A VLCC fully loaded with crude oil was laying at anchor with 10 shacklesof cable out. The wind was NW 25 knots and the vessel was on a heading 335degrees. A bulk carrier was inbound heading for the pilot station and, despiteVHF calls to pass further off, passed 10 metres off the bow. The Chief Officerran forward to check and found that the anchor cable was jumping aroundas the bulk carrier passed ahead.
