Türkiye Branch launch
On 7th of November The Nautical Institute warmly welcomed the Türkiye maritime community with the launch of its Türkiye Branch in Istanbul.

On 7th of November The Nautical Institute warmly welcomed the Türkiye maritime community with the launch of its Türkiye Branch in Istanbul. The launch was attended by esteemed figures such as İTÜ Maritime Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özcan Arslan, Piri Reis University Board of Trustees Member Dr. Capt. Özkan Poyraz, Chairman of the Board of TMMOB Chamber of Marine Engineers Eng. Yaşar Canca, representatives from the industry and civil society organisations, and students from maritime faculties.
The opening speech was delivered by Türkiye Branch Board Chairman, Capt. Mert Dağgeçen AFNI, who highlighted the pivotal role The Nautical Institute plays internationally in ensuring high standards of training and safety for maritime professionals. He also outlined the educational activities the branch plans to organise in Türkiye to support these efforts.
The first segment of the launch featured presentations by The Nautical Institute’s Senior Vice President, Walter Vervloesem FNI, and Martin Fothergill, Head of Membership & Branches, who introduced The Nautical Institute’s 2021–2026 strategic plan. This was followed by Somiyeh Djavanroodi, Deputy Head of The Nautical Institute Academy, who provided insights into the training and CPD opportunities offered by the Academy for maritime professionals.
The launch was attended by professionals from across the Türkiye maritime industry, who were eager to share their knowledge and experience with the many students and cadets participating in the event.
