Luciana Bezerra Aguiar e Silva AMNI from Brazil

Meet Luciana Bezerra Aguiar e Silva AMNI, 3rd Mate at Hornbeck Offshore and one of The Nautical Institute’s Younger Member Ambassadors (YMA).

Luciana’s passion for the sea was instilled early by her family, who encouraged her to explore a career in the maritime industry.

From her first steps in maritime studies, she found herself captivated by nautical science.

She began her training at CIABA and gained valuable experience during her internship aboard a PSV with CBO. In 2023, Luciana completed her DP (Dynamic Positioning) Basics course and embarked on her journey into DP operations. Now, she applies her expertise as a nautical officer aboard Hornbeck Offshore vessels.

Luciana is driven by her ambition to further develop her DPO skills while working internationally and dreams of becoming a DP instructor for aspiring maritime officers.

Her dedication to continuous learning and sharing knowledge led her to join The Nautical Institute. She believes that industry-led, goal-based training is invaluable for career growth, a realisation that came during her Basic DP course.

As a YMA, Luciana is passionate about supporting younger officers beginning a DP career. She finds great satisfaction in sharing insights and staying engaged with the maritime sector’s evolving standards.

Luciana is part of a global network of 70 YMAs appointed from educational programs, colleges, and early career stages at maritime organizations. Together, these ambassadors are committed to providing guidance and fostering a supportive environment for peers and the next generation of maritime professionals.

Join us in congratulating Luciana on her appointment as a Younger Member Ambassador and celebrating her continued journey in maritime excellence.
