There have been many seminars, articles and letters in maritime publications, including Seaways, on the causes of accidents with lifeboats, with many of them proposing solutions

In a bid to solve the problem once and for all, an Industry Lifeboat Group (ILG) comprising representatives of a wide range of interests and associations (including  The Nautical Institute), under the chairmanship of the International Chamber of Shipping, has had several meetings with a view to presenting a definitive document to the IMO.
