HE00690 - Perceptions of Risk in the Maritime Industry: Personal Injury
This is the second of a series of reports which aims to consider perceptions of risk in relation to ship casualty and personal injury across the maritime industry.
Specifically, data is interrogated with regard to differences in perception according to rank, department, nationality, age, and seafarers' length and nature of experience (e.g. ship type). The report is based upon data collected via a questionnaire (see Appendix 1) survey of 2372 seafarers from 50 countries conducted in 2006. The response rate achieved in undertaking the survey was approximately 36%. The data were analysed using SPSS and the report focuses on the statistically significant findings from the survey.
