ResourceAn essential skill for anyone in a position of responsibility at sea is the ability to make decisions based on information presented to them; this may be as part of the normal operational activities of the ship or during emergency events.
ResourceThe human element is a generic term to describe what makes humans behave the way they do and the consequences that result. As a subject it is of great importance to everyone in the maritime industry because we all rely on the contributions of each other to succeed in our business.
ResourceIn ensuring the safe conduct of the ship and the safe and timely delivery of its cargo the technical operation of a ship is as important as its navigation. The machinery and systems are what makes the ship work, and it is the engineers, both ashore and afloat, who make sure that it works efficiently, effectively and in a manner acceptable to the crew.
