Work was being performed on the overhaul of one of the main engine units. During the operation, a crack was noted in the crane hook block. It was not possible to determine the cause or when the damage had occurred. If the crack had propagated across the body, the block would have come apart and the loaded hook would have fallen out with serious consequences.
