Technology Afloat and Human Factors

17 Sep 2024 05:30PM - 10:00PM Thomas Miller, 90 Fenchurch Street, London EC3M 4ST, United Kingdom Branch UK/London

The London Branch of The Nautical Institute is pleased to announce its next Joint Informal Meeting (JIM) on 17 September at the offices of Thomas Miller in heart of the City of London.

Our industry is entering a period of technological change that could be unprecedented in terms of its pace. This seminar will consider safety led design with the seafarer in mind, including in relation to alternative fuels.

A new Human Element checklist from IACS will be introduced: “IACS, aims to raise the awareness within the shipping industry about the complex interface between people and systems on board. The objective is to ensure that people are not harmed, and that systems are not damaged by people or used in an unsafe, insecure or environmentally damaging way.”

A panel of industry experts will present and discuss - with Q & A from the audience. Join us to be part of the debate.

Our thanks to Thomas Miller for generously providing a venue & drinks before and after the seminar. Please note this is an in-person only event.

Network with fellow maritime professionals and hear from an experienced panel of speakers (complimentary refreshments provided):

Dr Jonathan Earthy
Principal Human Factors Specialist at Lloyds Register
Chair of the IACS Small Group Human Element

Marius Suteu
Head of Emerging Opportunities at Lloyds Register
