SMS for Workboats

07 Nov 2024 07:00PM - 09:00PM Hybrid (Oceansgate, Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom) Branch UK/South West England

The South West England Branch of The Nautical Institute is delighted to host its next seminar on 7 November on the theme of 'SMS for Workboats'.

Off the back of the excellent Joint Meeting ‘Waterbird’ in October, our next instalment will be ‘Out with the old and in with the new - Large changes in small commercial vessel and workboat regulation’.  The small commercial vessel and workboat codes of practice, affecting the UK’s largest fleet sector, are changing substantially.  It’s the biggest shake up since the codes came out in the early 90’s.

This has been chosen as the subject for the November meeting, where the guest speaker will be Simon Jinks.  Simon has been on the MCA code working committees for the last few years, and gives an insight into some of the changes within manning, safety management and the implementation of the new codes.

We will then conclude with a Q&A session.

For more information, and to register to attend for free, please contact the Branch Secretary, Mr Gordon Foot MNM FNI, at [email protected].
