On 26 March 2024, the Container Ship Dali hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore making world headlines but also triggering what might be some of the largest financial losses in history arising from a maritime casualty.

This Webinar featuring Jai Sharma, Head of Cargo Casualty and Partner at Clyde & Co will cover the “DALI” allision with the Baltimore bridge.

The webinar will focus on some of the losses, claims and legal issues arising, P&I, property, and personal injury/loss of life as well as the structure of insurance that could be involved in the resulting exposures.

In addition to the financial issues this incident impacted on many lives including the families of the deceased, those involved in port operations and of course the crew of the Dali. The Nautical Institute are pleased that Andrew Middleton, Director of the Apostleship of the Sea in Baltimore will be able to join the discussion as well.

This webinar will not speculate on the causes of the incident as the investigation is still underway.

Jai Sharma has handled more than 300 casualties in his career. Cases he has handled include a number of very significant reported English maritime cases, for example, "NEW FLAME", "AQASIA", "EURASIAN DREAM", “EVER GIVEN” and "CMA CGM LIBRA" as well as reported cases in other jurisdictions, such as Singapore, India and the Marshall Islands. He is also recognised by Legal 500 as a recommended lawyer for shipping in London and South East England and has recently been recognised in Lloyd's List of the Top 10 maritime lawyers in 2020.

This webinar will be interactive, inviting feedback and questions from attendees and will provide a certificate of participation to all those who attend.
