Annual Seminar & Dinner 2024

24 Oct 2024 02:00PM - 11:00PM INNSiDE Hotel, Old Hall Street, Liverpool L3 9BD, United Kingdom Branch UK/North West England & North Wales

The North West England & North Wales Branch of The Nautical Institute is once again pleased to host its Annual Seminar & Dinner on 24 October in Liverpool on the theme of 'Port Operations & Seamanship'.

Our Autumn gathering builds on the recent cadet-focussed event at Fleetwood Nautical Campus in May, which focussed on seamanship in port approaches - particularly in regard to maritime S&R.  This seminar will discuss seamanship and training more specifically during port operations, including pilot boarding, mooring, and tug interactions.  We will be addressed by serving pilots, tug skippers and technical superintendents - with plenty of opportunity for delegate participation and the sharing of own experience and knowledge to advance the discussion.

Programme

1400h - Registration and light refreshments
1430h - Session 1: Pilot Operations (the problems will be identified using evidence from own experiences.  A serving senior pilot from Liverpool will give a presentation on their operational needs and expectations)

1630h - Session 2: Mooring Operations and Ropes (introduced by a Marine Superintendent; this session will cover safe mooring operations and types of ropes)
