The University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies will host the 30th International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA30) Conference. This prestigious event will be held in the colourful city of Split, Croatia, from September 24 - 27, 2025.

IMLA’s aim is to promote contact and cooperation among maritime lecturers of all disciplines and to develop a body of professional expertise. Thus, it attempts to fulfil its aim at its regular international conferences and through its portal.

The IMLA30 conference aims to bring together maritime educators, researchers, industry professionals, and policy makers to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in maritime education and training. This year’s conference will feature an array of engaging sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, providing an excellent opportunity for professional development, networking, and collaboration. We are also pleased to announce that IMLA30 will host three specialized sub-committees: International Navigation Simulator Lecturers Conference – INSLC23, International Conference on Engine Room Simulators – ICERS17, International Maritime English Conference – IMEC35, each focusing on a distinct aspect of maritime education and training, allowing for more in-depth discussions and targeted networking opportunities.

The conference will host worldwide-known keynote speakers: Prof. Maximo Q. Mejia Jr., PhD, MSc, MALD, BSc, President World Maritime University; Capt. Berislav Vranic, CMMar, FNI, MIIMS, IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador ~ Croatia; Nicole Ziegler, Assoc. Prof., Department of Second Language Studies, University of Hawai’i at Manoa; Dr. Ivan Kraemer, Ministry for Economy, Ports and Transformation, Bremen, Germany.

The programme will cover a wide range of topics including but not limited to navigation/engine-room simulator-based maritime education and training, maritime safety and security, environmental sustainability, technological advancements, and best practices in maritime education and training.

The papers will be peer-reviewed by internationally renowned academic staff and will accordingly be published in the proceedings or in the journal Transactions on Maritime Science. The Best Presentation Awards will also be presented to each specific sub-committee.
