Fifty Years of The Nautical Institute
The Nautical Institute’s half-century of achievement is set out in this heavily illustrated, handsomely produced commemorative book.
Fifty Years of The Nautical Institute follows the NI’s progress from early attempts to set up a professional maritime body to the Institute becoming a respected global player in the maritime world.
The Institute’s journey to its Golden Anniversary under the leadership of Julian Parker, Philip Wake and Captain John Lloyd is illustrated with a wealth of fascinating archive material, much of it sourced from the pages of the Institute’s professional journal, Seaways. Photographs and cuttings remind us how much has changed in those five decades, from the size and design of ships, to pay rates, fashions and attitudes towards safety, women and the environment.
The Fifty Years of The Nautical Institute book will be available to purchase from the 8th of April.
